Gifted Hater is skateboarding’s Shane Gillis and we need to discuss it.
Gifted Hater’s (Joa Field) “jokes” directly align with those of “comedians” like Hinchcliffe, Von, Rogan, etc. His fanatical, incel audience is also strikingly similar.
For people with a moral compass, this would be alarming— but most skateboarders are white men while Field’s content disproportionally attacks women and black people.
Over time, Field has increasingly leaned into this grift for engagement and profit. He also knowingly incites relentless, long-term harassment from his fans towards women and black skaters.
This compilation (except a relevant SZA “joke”) is from a single one-hour stream, published January 25, 2025. The first half is rife with “jokes” (misogyny) about Chris Cole abusing Christine Flannigan during their marriage; body shaming pregnant women; mocking single moms, women on medication and referring to women as “dumb” and “bitches”.
The soundbites and laughter reinforce Field’s willful ignorance and hatred.
Field’s timeline is also of serious concern:
- July 2024: Flannigan goes public with allegations of Cole’s abuse.
- January 15, 2025: Christine shares her story in an interview with me.
- January 18, 2025: Working directly with Christine, Field releases a “Chris Cole Investigation”, presenting additional evidence not covered in my interview.
- January 25, 2025, Field releases this Bert Kreischer video.
Why is it so nefarious? Because only 10 days after Christine’s interview and only 7 after Field’s “investigation”, he reverted to his true misogynist-rhetoric-spewing, racist form, which he still does today.
Joa Field doesn’t care about women—he despises them. His Cole videos were opportunist piggybacks for clicks, not concern for women and condemning abuse.
The second half of this edit shows Field in racist mode—code switching and positioning himself as Hitler expressing contempt for Kreischer, while leveraging rapist Kobe Bryant’s talent and success against Kreischer's shortcomings.
The absolute easiest, lowest-hanging fruit path to an audience in skateboarding is with hate and Joa Field’s schtick is the same, lazy, unfunny, Shane Gillis boomer shit we’ve seen since the dawn of time.
