The Manifesto: By Marc Johnson

This 'zine was sent to shops by Dwindle Distribution as a teaser before enjoi launched in 2000. It may have actually coincided with the company's transition from World Industries to Dwindle Distribution if I'm remembering correctly.

Written by Marc Johnson, it was the very first taste of legendary things to come from enjoi. Influenced by, and a nod to, early World ads and Steve Rocco-style marketing, from the moment I read it, the piece was the best, most memorable skateboard writing I'd ever laid eyes on, and still my favorite to this day.

When Marc and I met, around 2014-ish, I told him how much I loved the 'zine. "Check this out," he said, and sent me a photo of him holding a printed out "Manifesto" ... an early version of the enjoi 'zine I loved so much.

Most people I speak to don't know of the 'zine, so I'm sure very few have seen Manifesto before, so I wanted to share my favorite piece of skateboarding prose and Marc's sheer brilliance with everyone.
