Sklog: LanceMountain.com
By Rob Brink
The Skateboard Mag February 2008

Anyone blessed with the legendary status Lance Mountain possesses should damn well have a website these days. But Mr. Mountain's site isn't just some sort of hype and destination for the skateboard community to keep up on all the latest Lance Mountain news, contest results, roster hops and whatnot.

Refreshingly, it's more of a scrapbook of his life, family, art, friends, interests, memorabilia, career and more. It's essentially a story—and should be required reading for anyone who's ever stepped on a skateboard.

The 2007 Douche Bag Awards...

January 9, 2008

My Douche Bag Awards went over quite well last year. So well in fact, that I almost forgot about them until a few days ago. Upon remembering, it only took a brief second to determine who the winners are for 2007. These days, people make this shit too easy. So yeah, here's me sounding angry for five minutes and calling out shit that you know people will be embarrassed to admit they did a few years from now.

Sorry ladies. I just can't take it anymore. Yes, these things are ugly as sin. Like Ugg boots weren't bad enough, right? You ladies had to go raise the bar of hideousness. Guys do not think they are hot and you don't look good in them. Trust me. Girls probably don't like 'em either. As a matter of fact, I guarentee that girls who actually own them talk shit on other girls who wear them.

Furthermore, all it really makes me think of is a Clydesdale horse. And we all know you girls don't want us thinking about large mammals when we look at you, now do we? Whenever I see these boots on someone I suddenly get the urge to schmear dog shit or spill red wine or puke on them.

Quotable...

January 1, 2008

In case some of you didn't bother to read it, I think Marc Johnson had a few really good things to say in this Thrasher SOTY interview. It's been quite a while since I thought about an interview for longer than say, five minutes after I finished reading it. So I have to offer a hearty "Nice one!" to Burnett and MJ.

"Much of what I see in skateboarding is completely routine and mundane, so I stay away from it."

"Most people can't stand being alone because it scares them. You have no distractions when you're isolated, so you're forced to confront yourself and deal with who and what you really are. Most people don't like themselves very much, so they surround themselves with constant distractions so they aren't forced to focus on how fucked and distorted they are."
