Lake Forest secret spot R.I.P.

July 17, 2007

The esteemed, pristine City of Lake Forest has done a pretty good job attempting to seal off the secret spot with new, shiny, expensive fencing and then tearing the quarterpipes away from the walls and repainting everything. I think they are wasting their time and money. We'll be back...

Off to Amsterdam...

July 16, 2007

Collin Provost is rad. Especially when he has a megaphone.

These dudes left for Amsterdam Am on Friday. But not before lurking Wahoos with me so I could sneak out of the office for a few hours. They are off jet setting and I, on the other hand, am busy voting for Food Network reality shows. Something's wrong lately. I'm getting totally homo.

Chris Gregson can drive now. Stay off the sidewalk. And the street. And the lawn. No, really.

I totally voted, dude!

July 16, 2007

For the first time in my life, I've officially voted. Alas! I have a voice! I matter!

Forget Rory, her teeth would take up the whole screen if she had a show of her own and she's from the same state as George W. In her defense though, she seems to have a great rack. Still trying to figure out if they are real or not. Might just be good bras.

Go Amy! She was my pick from day one (along with Adrien, who flat-out sucked and got his ass booted). But I'm backing Amy....

Yeahhhh Tim!

July 12, 2007

For quite some time now, I knew one of these was coming. I just didn't know how it was gonna pan out. Congrats to Tim O'Connor for making me laugh today and for breaking it down so perfectly. The skate industry seriously needs to check itself. We all know it, but only a few will go and say it. I read a few of the VBS message board comments. Anyone talking shit on Tim's ability obviously hasn't skated with him. I'll leave it at that.

Skinema!

July 9, 2007

Chris Nieratko and I were both born and bred in NJ and we are damn fucking proud of it. We are just about the same age. We both went to Catholic school. We are both writers (although he runs laps around me in my opinion.) We both learned most of what we know about interviewing from listening to Howard Stern our entire lives. We both love skateboarding.

I like Chris. He inspires me. I learned some of what I know about writing from reading his stuff. I'm stoked he has a...

Fletch off Flip? Big deal...

July 8, 2007

Sometimes things don't work out and stuff. So what? Evolution. Eric Fletcher stopped by etnies on Friday and I made him do tricks over a bench at the coffee shop. I love this kid. He's such a natural it'll make you sick. Don't worry about where he's going next. You'll find out soon enough...

The ceremonial cleansing of ye gold Laguna hydrant!

July 5, 2007

I've heard rumors of this recently from people who pass by it on their early morning commutes... the gold fire hydrant in Laguna Beach getting polished every single morning. But its the type of ridiculous shit I had to see with my own eyes to believe. Sure enough, walking back from the beach at 6:49 am this morning, I struck blog gold when I stumbled upon the cleansing of the gold hydrant! I'm pretty damn sure you'll never find another town that polishes their...

Pigeons

July 5, 2007

Any true skateboarder who sees a photo like this one here, of a pigeon, should immediately think of one of the greatest skateboarding videos of all time...

I know I did at 6 am this morning when I snapped it. Specifically, I thought of Sean Young. I also thought how it's been a really long time since a company came out and blew doors and changed shit up like Anti-Hero did. Who has done it since? Baker perhaps, if anyone? It's a tough call. Some might say Zero,...

6 am in Laguna Beach

July 3, 2007

Air Grip! Not sure what Frisbee and skateboarding have to do with one another. Except that they were both in Nintendo's California Games.

Been having some unexplained insomnia lately. As a result, I've been walking to the beach in the morning. Metal detector people, homeless people, pigeons, seagulls, boogie boarders and dolphins run rampant at this hour. It's a pretty rad scene. Another bum fight on film is inevitable!

Two of my favs, O'Connor and Busenitz in Warschau, Poland. I like videos without handrails in them.

Heading to NJ in two weeks, Tim being home to skate/film with is always hit or miss. We shall see...
