In Panda we trust

My dear friend Leanne Biank came out last month because her work was featured in a few art shows. One at Thinkspace called Picks of the Harvest: Batch Four and the other at Gallery 1988 entitled I am 8-bit.

As you'll see, there were a multitude of video game dorks at the 8-bit show. I was also suprised and saddened at how many "artists," when given the opportunity to create something based on any "retro" video game, chose Super Mario Brothers. Seriously, more than half. Perhaps it's a telling sign of an impactful game in their lives or generation or whatever, but c'mon people, have some foresight and think out of the box. You're artists afterall, aren't you? Leanne chose Joust. I'm backing that one. Whoever did Dig Dug and Tron, nice work people...

So anyway, I became an art fag for the week. Or even more of one than I already am for that matter.
