Best shit I've read in a while...

I'm not here to start or drag out the blank board debate...but in my opinion, after seven or so years as a skateshop manager/buyer and another seven (some overlapping the shop days) writing in the "industry," MrCokesNSmokes nailed it here, then again about halfway down the page here. And I've spoken with many, many people who feel the same way.

Sure there's plenty of sides to all of this, I agree with many of the anti-blank board/pro-pro model arguments as well. There's right and wrong in both sides. I don't wanna see the good brands fail and pros go broke. I don't wanna be out of a job and see professional skateboarding die and all that either. But I was psyched to read these, just from the standpoint of an ex-shop guy as well as a good argument being presented, even if from a devil's advocate point of view.

I should probably add that I didn't link to this in an anti-IASC sort of way. I'm not really trying to write about my opinion on the whole blank board matter because it isn't something I feel like publicly ranting about. Being a writer, I just link to shit I feel is worthwhile reading and I love and respect when people stir the pot in an intelligent manner. I feel it's essential that people ask questions and pose arguments to everything that is presented to them. I felt these message board posts were all of that, which is kinda rare these days.

I get it, but when shop decks are like 1/2 the price it's pretty hard to justify the extra coin every time. But I'm also a cheap bastard and I buy my shoes on eBay.

It's a tough debate. We all want to support are favorite pros and all, but at the same time who can afford $60 for a board every week or so. Depending on how often you skate. Rob could tell you I go through quite a few due to an anger management problem but that's beside the point. Price plays an important factor here. And I buy shoes on Ebay too.
