The Foundation Testament...

January 10, 2007

Video reviews are gay but The Foundation Testament box set is badass...the reason I am up at 3:30 a.m. because I am too stoked on watching all of this shit to fall asleep. 10 Ways to not have a driver's license and still maintain a skateboarding career
By Rob Brink & Tim O'Connor
The Skateboard Mag February 2007

Sometimes we didn't think anything of it, other times is was downright unbearable. To this day, after about thirteen years of knowing Tim, I've yet to be a passenger in Tim's vehicle.

"Skate Fag!"

January 9, 2007

I dunno about the rest of the world, but growing up as a skateboarder in NJ in the early '90s, the most common insult I got from the jocks and guidos and other assholes was "Skate Fag." I'm not really sure of the origin, or how this term came to be so common, but it was standard fare for me. People used to just yell it at me as they passed in the hallway of my high school. Stalking John Popper!

January 7, 2007

Yes, John is skinnier now. Lonely artist in an airport. Kinda reminiscent of that Bon Jovi Wanted Dead or Alive video, huh?

Ok, so I'm in the airport the other day, heading home from a few weeks in the motherland of NJ, and John Popper, lead singer of Blues Traveler is on the security line behind me. I was kinda lookin' at him to see what his story was, then he set off the metal detector and essentially got pulled aside and searched for about 15 minutes. Now, I've set off the alarm and gone through these searches before...nothing too bad. But this security guard was like reaching into Popper's shirt and the waistband of his pants and shit. It was getting borderline gay.
