New Jack: Nyjah Houston
By Rob Brink
The Skateboard Mag January 2007
There have been a lot of young skateboarding prodigies over the years, but its safe to say that Nyjah Huston, for his age, is the most accomplished, talented and progressive than those who have preceded him.
In 2005, Nyjah earned the coveted "curtains" slot in Element's Elementaliy Vol. 1 video, nabbed first place at Tampa Am, Am Getting Paid and Goofy vs. Regular—he was 10 years old then. In his 11th year on this planet, he's managed three second place finishes thus far (Global Assault, Panasonic Open and Right Guard Open). Not to mention the Unbridled Spirit Award, a special award given to him by the Kentucky Sports Authority during the Louisville stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour.

I said it before and I'll say it again...Clyde is the shit.
TransWorld Business is an old client of mine. I wrote for them for a few years. I like the mag. I have some friends there, but I have to give this one to Clyde for a few simple and logical reasons. And no, not just 'cuz we write for the same mag:
1. As he stated in his blog, Clyde is no longer pro for anyone. Good point. Therefore, relating him to any sort of "exposure" nonsense with other pro and am skaters is kind of irrelevant and out of context these days.

Lurk around the Sole Technologies offices enough and you come across gems like this Nate Sherwood sponsor-me tape (yes it was on VHS), from a few years ago, floating around. Remember when you threw some quotes of mine in TWS? But in all seriousness. Nate dances to the beat of his own drum,...

During the first day of GvR practice, the Blind dudes and me decided to head on over to the not-so-secret-anymore spot near the etnies skatepark. After about an hour of skating, this is what we came up with. And in case you can't figure it out, the featured skaters are Bill Weiss, Ronnie Creager and James Craig. Looks fun, doesn't it? It was. And the quarterpipe is janky as hell.

After GVR, lots of Sole Technology's riders stuck around for a little meeting at the STI lab. Here's some mini ramp clips featuring Eric Fletcher, Conhuir Lynn and Andrew Reynolds, and a photo gallery from the afternoon. Speaking of GVR, I'm editing a ton of videos and photo right now. Stay tuned.

Here's some video from Bling Fest, featuring Terell Robinson, Billy Marks, Pat Duffy, Nick Dompierre, Justin Schulte, Ryan Sheckler, Andrew Reynolds and Dennis Busenitz. Video from yesterday's Active Am to come soon! Give this a minute to load. Sorry, still trying to learn some video shit here. The last I checked, the top of this site says "Writer," not "Video expert tech geek," so gimme a break.
