I'm guessing this photo was taken about 1988 or 1989. That makes me about 12. Check the harsh one-eyed pirate Tony Hawk cut and head to toe skate gear. Looks like I'm about 50 lbs...no wonder people made fun of me. Two Swatch watches, Vision Street Wear pants (tightrolled at the bottom, of course), Vision shoes, Vision hip pack and a Vision Shredder 2 setup. Can't say I'm not OG. Check out my "pretending I don't know the camera's there" steez. Oh and here's another one of me "shredding" a harsh G-turn out in front of my house.

Back in June, there was a Joaquin Phoenix spotting at etnies, where I work, and I expressed some distaste for Joaquin's desire to not be photographed at the time. Well, yesterday, Joaquin showed up at the etnies Holiday Festival charity event and hung out with the kids, took plenty of photos and was an all-around good guy. So here's me givin' credit where credit is due and shouting out JP for showing up and supporting what etnies is doing.

Yesterday was the etnies Holiday Festival, where some less fortunate children were treated to a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a bunch of pro skateboarders and Joaquin Phoenix. They all got free etnies shoes, watched the skaters do their thing, did arts and crafts and more. A fun day with a good cause. Here's some video featuring Ryan Sheckler, Rick McCrank, Kelly Hart, Danny Garcia, Lauren Perkins, Leo Romero, and Ronnie Creager, as well as a Photo Gallery...

Molinar & Scoobs!
Another day, another party. This time it was the Sole Technology Holiday party. A gallery would be far too embarrassing for my co-workers, plus, ya'll don't know who they are and only wanna see skateboard superstars anyway, right?

Mr. Ryan Sheckler stopped by etnies today to do a little filming for an MTV thing. I won't tell you too much about it just yet because I'm probably not supposed to...there's a Photo Gallery though! Have fun.

Usually random and epic, it is always a treat to hear from Mr. Nieratko. In reference to my Nyjah interview, Chris sent me this kind message via MySpace...

Nice!
When you live out here and work in this cool-ass industry, you get invited to Christmas parties with open bars every December. The Ignition party was last night at Sutra in Costa Mesa, a club we would consider a guido bar back in my homeland of NJ. Drinks were free, Muska spun, chicks danced and got sweaty. Thanks, Ignition!

New Jack: Nyjah Houston
By Rob Brink
The Skateboard Mag January 2007
There have been a lot of young skateboarding prodigies over the years, but its safe to say that Nyjah Huston, for his age, is the most accomplished, talented and progressive than those who have preceded him.
In 2005, Nyjah earned the coveted "curtains" slot in Element's Elementaliy Vol. 1 video, nabbed first place at Tampa Am, Am Getting Paid and Goofy vs. Regular—he was 10 years old then. In his 11th year on this planet, he's managed three second place finishes thus far (Global Assault, Panasonic Open and Right Guard Open). Not to mention the Unbridled Spirit Award, a special award given to him by the Kentucky Sports Authority during the Louisville stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour.
