-Reese Forbes to a Swedish Quik employee upon seeing her smile at the Quiksilver Hosoi premiere. Sorry, didn't get a photo of Reese to go with this quote. enjoi the stock one I found on Google.
Went to this thing on a whim...wasn't really planning to attend. Surprising amounts of VIPs in the house! You know, Perry Farrell, Daryll Hannah, dudes from Incubus...blah blah blah. I was never a Hosoi fan as a kid. He was kinda right before my time. But what I saw of the movie was pretty good. I left for a bit to go get a sandwich right when the meth smoking part came on. Can't wait to see the rest. For real, I didn't expect it, but I was intrigued. Upon returning to the party after eating, I heard Christian on the mic talking about God for like 15 minutes. Not my cup of green tea, but whatever. Y'all should be checkin' this flick out.
As usual, was skating at the Lake Forest Skatepark the other night. Boy are there some total douchebags that work there. This one new dude used to be a marine and he's a total raw jock, yellin' at kids and shit, skating around with no pads and completely ignoring the weak-ass "no photos or filming" rule, even though us etnies employees try to show up and do our job and get some coverage for the park at demos and contests, but get denied. The dude will likely be shitcanned soon if he keeps it up. Rad.
So here's the entire Jon Goemann interview...unedited and quite a bit longer than what came out in The Skateboard Mag this month. Right after I did this interview I saw Jon skating at the etnies Skatepark. It was rad to meet him so shortly after talking to him on the phone and he is one stylish motherfucker on a skateboard.
Bob Burnquist switch backside 180...no hands? And two front flip attemtps to boot? Jake Brown trying no-grab backside 360s over the big gap? Andy Mac still doing the same shit over and over? Ever heard of Rob Lorifice? Me neither! Danny Way backflip rocket airs...this shit is exxxxxxxxtreme!!!!!!!!! Must be X Games Big Air!
New Jack: Jon Goemann
By Rob Brink The Skateboard Mag September 2006
After a few years of hanging out with, observing and interviewing young up-and-coming ams in skateboarding, something kind of inspiring and refreshing that I've noticed is a certain amount of innocence and carefree attitude that emanates from them. Qualities that, if we aren't careful, are easily lost to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, aging, girlfriends, careers, money and whatnot.
Speaking to these ams these types of interviews are probably the only time I'm happy to hear “I don't know” as an answer to my questions. Because really, it kinda just means they aren't thinking too hard. And when people don't think to hard, you can bet your pimpled ass they are getting' busy living for the moment and having a good time. In Jon Goemann's case, he seems to be kicking back and enjoying the ride. Poker, candy, skateboarding, breaking and losing expensive shit and a whole lot of not knowing God I envy this kid and you should too. Because with the style of a modern old skateboarding soul, heaps of well-rounded ability and pop and a unique satchel of tricks, for certain, one question you won't be able to answer “I don't know” to will be "Who is Jon Goemann?"
