Conhuir Lynn

Conhuir Lynn is another skater I worked with for etnies.com. He's kinda low-key right now, but he's stylish as hell and you'll here more of him soon enough.

Conhuir Lynn is an Irishman but he's not a tough guy. He loves video games, Van Morrison and playing the guitar. He is mellow and timid but provoke him and you might be at the mercy of a hyper bloke. At the young age of nineteen, he looks like an old man. Maybe it's the moustache he proudly rocks on the regular. His tre flips will make you jealous—no one except Stefan can even step to the casual back leg action that Conhuir possesses. He's got a mean switch tre as well.

Growing up in Ireland, Conhuir barely had any skateparks to hit up, and dealt with a lot of rain—which has given him the gift of appreciation for when the nice weather comes and for the skate spots he has.

Conhuir admits to getting stressed when he skates sometimes—but he hates it. He's also anti-war and a certified benihana hater.

His recent part (and it's a hidden easter egg) in Blueprint's Lost and Found will give you a small taste of big things to come from this etnies am. Have a look while you wait to see his part in the next video, which is in the works as we speak.

How and when did you start skating?
I started in 1998. I saw my little brother with a skateboard and really wanted one! So I started and I've been with it ever since.

What was your first setup?
I got a board from a sketchy toy place that cost £20, but that Christmas I got a proper board, Rick Howard Girl board, Destructo trucks and Girl wheels. I was so stoked on it.

Were there any influences on your skating?
Yea, there is a guy from Belfast called Bernard Rea and his brother Liam. They both had a huge influence on my skating. I still skate with them these days. Bernard could do any trick he wanted and made it look so good! I loved skatin' with him.

How is growing up skating in a country other than America different?
Ireland isn't much like the rest of Europe, its got really old ground and not so many spots, growing up skating is weird I think its made me appreciate spots a lot more than if I grew up some where with a lot of perfect spots.

Ireland had no skate parks until I was skating about three years and the first skate park was about 100 miles from my home. Now there are only about four skateparks in the whole country, but growin' up skatin' in Ireland has made me think differently about skating in certain aspects.

What are the advantages and disadvantages?
The advantages are there was always a tight scene, everyone knew everyone and everyone skated together, the only problem was that it rained a lot!

What's your favorite stuff/spots to skate?
I love skatin' flat ground when I have nothing to do, but I love skatin' different stuff. I still enjoy skatin' stairs until I slam though!

Where, what, and with whom would your dream session be?
In the school a block away from my house with my little flat rail, with Arto and Bastien!

What's the last trick you learned?
Switch backside flips, took me a while though, ha-ha.

Name a trick you want to learn but can't seem to get.
Hardflips, they are so weird I'm getting closer though.

How could contests be improved?
They could have a like a jam format in stead of individual runs, there would be a lot less stress and be a lot more fun.

What's this I hear about you skating vert recently? Tell us about it.
Well I've been trying. I just make an idiot out of myself though ha-ha. I'd love to learn how to skate vert! There are no vert ramps in Ireland so it's so new to me, I just love the feeling.

I also hear you've got Halo 2 mastered. How much time do you spend playing it and what's so addictive about it?
Hahaha I love that game! Oh God I don't know how much time I spend on that, maybe more than skating , nah not really ha-ha. I just love it. Its so funny.

I would always be playin' it before we would go for a skate and I would be in the middle of a game and have to turn it off I was bummed!

Name one thing in skateboarding that bothers you.
I hate getting stressed out. I don't like to get angry when I'm skating. I suppose it happens and people have their bad days but I would love not to get angry.

Does spending time skating with guys of Flip team caliber make you skate harder/better?
Yea definately, I skated with Arto a lot when I was in the states. It just makes you look at things differently. I now think that things I would never have thought to be possible are now possible. It gave me a boost in confidence!

What do you think of skate videos these days?
I like the way they are going, tricks are getting a lot gnarlier (If that's a word ha-ha.) but I think it's cool! I love watching recent videos.

What's your favorite video and favorite video part?
I'm sure most people think the same as me, my favorite vide part is Arto in Sorry, but my favorite video is What's the Point? Its a local video from Belfast.

How did you get on etnies?
I got on the UK team about three years ago then I got on the European team after that. Then I came to the states and went on a couple of trips with the team and I got one, I'm so stoked about it!

What do you like most about etnies?
The team!

What's your favorite etnies model to skate in?
Artos.

Who are your favorite skaters of all time?
Geoff Rowley, Arto, Penny, Paul Shier, Marc Johnson.

Who is an up-and-comer that's getting you psyched?
My little brother Denis and friend Joe! Also David Gonzales, the new guy on Flip he is so sick!

What have been the highlights of your skateboarding career so far?
Goin' to the states and meeting everyone, and goin' camping in Arizona! That was so good I loved my time in the States!

Will you be coming to the Goofy vs. Regular contest this October? And how do you feel about that contest itself?
I really want to go, it would be cool! I think the contest is a good idea! Always good to see the stances shake hands in the end though!

What do you enjoy besides skating?
Smoking cigarettes and playing guitar!

If you weren't skating, what would you be doing for a living?
I really think I would be working in a fast food place, I don't think I could have stayed in school! I'm just lucky I'm skating!

What are you working on now? Shooting for any interviews or filming for any videos?
Tryin' to film for a new Blueprint video, its focused on the ams this time. Should be sick!

What are your future goals?
Just to keep skating for as long as possible!
