Leo Romero
By Rob Brink
Strength May 2003
Leo Romero is 16, and he acts like it. He just wants to skate with his friends and have fun like every other 16-year old does. He doesn't have any intense theories regarding the skate world. His answers to questions are simple—as they should be from a young sponsored skater who is thankful for all that has come his way.
Dub him an “am-railer” if you wish, but Mr. Romero likes to skate ledges. He can do ss/bs/ts just as well as the next guy. He can even land on switch 360 flips! But Leo's got many years ahead for him to perfect all the important skating moves. For now he's just enjoying life, skating his ass off, learning to talk to girls, and trying to get at least half of his homework done.

Zered Bassett
By Rob Brink
Strength April 2003
If you watch an older 411 or flip through some magazines that are more than five years old, you're bound to see dozens of ams who were once prominent for a short period of time, but have disappeared into the abyss of skate mysteriousness—never to be seen by the masses again. “I remember him!” or “What ever happened to that guy?” Will most likely spew from your mouth as you ponder what “Bermuda Triangle” absorbed these beings. With the amateur skateboarder being such a hot commodity nowadays, there seems to be more ams surfacing than ever before, which means five or so years from now, many of them will also be missing in action.
Zered Bassett is an 18-year-old amateur who is super talented on his skateboard. With a patient and modest demeanor, he probably won't disintegrate from the scene anytime soon. He replies to many questions with “I haven't really thought about that.” Which is a sure sign (and a good sign) that he isn't growing up too fast. Because 18 year old skateboarders roster hopping, talking about their salaries, their contracts, what they are going to film next, and the industry, is undoubtedly a turn off. Especially when they should really be keeping busy with being 18, energized, having a good time, killing it on a skateboard, and not caring about all that grown up, “real-world” nonsense.

Rachel Perry Photo Shoot Bonus!
By Rob Brink
October 2002
The following is a list of quotes from Rachel regarding love, sex and relationships that she spewed during our conversations. My initial idea was to include them as a sidebar for the article and jokingly present Rachel as some sort of prohetic "relationship expert." Stance canned that idea. I'm not sure if that was because of available space in the mag or my idea just sucking. I have also included some candids from the Stance photo shoot.

Rachel Perry was, by far, the most real and charismatic "celebrity" I have ever worked with. After we met for lunch and this interview, she took me up to VH1's wardrobe area to be fitted for an appearance and tried numerous outfits on (and removed them) in front of me.
